Music Tv is now representing “I’m Your Vinyl”

I’m Your Vinyl is electric duo Dana Donnelly and Ken McHugh. The pair came together in January 2011.
At the time Dana liked acoustic guitars, now she prefers electrics. Ken was into instrumental music, now he prefers songs.

They release their debut album in three parts. They release PART TWO of their debut album on the 19th of October. It includes the single “Let Me Love You”.The third part will be released in January.

Performing live, creating videos and writing new songs are things they like the most. It has been noticed that bubbles, bicycles, hats and sparkly trousers seem also to have a strong influence.

Melodic songs accompanied by guitars, uplifting beats and cinematic overtones is how they best describe their sound.

Tupelo are an exciting, original, acoustic roots act consisting of an eclectic line-up of instruments which includes banjo, guitar, fiddle, double bass, mandolin, harmonica and dobro. Presenting a truly unique take on Irish music, Tupelo are a vibrant new name, combining the sounds of their homeland with classic American influences. The band take sounds as disparate as bluegrass, American folk and Irish traditional and make them their own. Having hit the top ten singles chart their debut album Dirty Money has received rave reviews in all quarters of the press.

The lads have just finished recording their second album which is set for an early 2013 release and have returned from abroad after playing well received shows in Denmark and the UK.

MusicTv.ie represents The Rubberbandits.

With filming just wrapped on their first full length tv show for Channel 4, the Rubberbandits head into Summer 2012 with a bag on their faces and a song in their hearts. A series of appearances at the best uk festivals, an almost sold out 12 night run at the Edinburgh Fringe and the release of their Irish chart topping album Serious about Men worldwide mean that Mr. Chrome and Blindboy Boat Club have lots to look forward to.

Coming off the back of new single “Black Man”, cult hit “Spastic Hawk” and “I Wanna Fight Your Father” ”, the Limerick duo launched their debut album late last year . A double-CD release packed with tracks old and new, prank phone calls and more, “Serious About Men” is everything you have come to expect from the Rubberbandits and then some. Having shot to worldwide fame in 2010, it’s been a momentous year for the comedy hip-hop outfit. Blindboy Boat Club and Mr. Chrome became internet superstars after “Horse Outside” premiered on RTÉ’s Republic of Telly and subsequently went viral (over 8 million views and counting!).

Critically acclaimed shows at Oxegen and Electric Picnic, storming uk festival appearances at Reading and Leeds combined with a sold out run of shows in New York combined with sell out shows all over Ireland to keep the bandit boys busy. Throw in filming a four part series and live show with MTV in the USA, an Ifta award and their Comedy Blaps filmed for Channel 4 with Fr. Ted’s Declan Lowney on direction duty and you can see 2011 was quite a year for our bagged up boys.
2012 looks like being even better !

The Flaws release “Make Good” , the second single from their second album ‘Constant Adventure’ on Friday 11th Feb. To Coincide with the digital only release the band play Dublins Crawdaddy venue on 11th Feb with some special guests. Constant Adventure was recorded at Tumbleweed Studios in Dundalk, was self produced and mixed and engineered by Jason Varley. The end result showcases how much The Flaws have grown as a band, track after track boasts beautiful harmonies and dazzles with glittering guitars.

Their debut long player ‘Achieving Vagueness’ was released to much critical acclaim in late 2007, entered the Irish Top 20 and lead to both Choice and Meteor nominations.

Lisa Hannigan’s self-released ‘Sea Sew’ went double platinum, was nominated for the Choice Music Prize and the Mercury Prize in the UK, and saw Hannigan play bewitching guest spots on the likes of ‘Later…With Jools Holland’, ‘The Late Late Show , ‘‘The Tonight Show With Jay Leno’ and ‘The Colbert Report’.

For those of us gazing on from afar at her evolution as a performer, the first glimmer that there was something more to Lisa Hannigan than meets the eye came last year, when she appeared alongside Green Gartside, Teddy Thompson and Vashti Bunyan on a tour celebrating the music of Nick Drake. By common critical consensus, her transformation of Drake’s ‘Black-Eyed Dog’ as a macabre deathly jig stole the show. You couldn’t watch what she did to that song and not feel excited about what she was going to do next.

It doesn’t take long in the company of Lisa’s second album, ‘Passenger’, to hear that excitement repaid. Hannigan famously made her name as the beautiful, breathy accompaniment to Damien Rice, with whom she sang and toured for seven years. It is on this second solo album that you sense she’s truly found her own voice, and it is on aching, mournful form from the very opening song. ‘Passenger’ begins with ‘Home’, which was written shortly after Lisa read ‘Skippy Dies’ by Dublin author Paul Murray. “It’s set at a boys’ boarding school,” she explains, “and I think the atmosphere of wild uncertainty, urgency and frustration that consumes you at fourteen sort of grabbed hold of me.” Abetted by the demonic ivory-pounding of Gavin Glass and the breathtaking violin playing of Lucy Wilkins, the rain-lashed ruminations of the song portend a more undulating emotional journey than ‘Sea Sew’.

Much of ‘Passenger’ reflects the journeys Lisa has taken, particularly whilst touring her first record. “I chose ‘Passenger’ as the title after living with the finished songs as a whole,” she says. “Many of them were written while I was away from home or on the road, and the feeling of transience and nostalgia that this constant travelling evoked seemed to seep into every song.” The overarching theme of the record, then, is “those loves, heartbreaks, confusions and friendships that we take with us through life, over years and continents, enduring the passage of time.” This emotional landscape is captured quite literally on the album’s cover, which collates maps of the main places where the record was written (Dublin, Brooklyn, West Cork). As ever, it’s beautifully detailed effort from Hannigan, who perforated the images into paper and shot light through them, creating a stunning map of her music in the process.

One of the most thrilling moments on ‘Passenger’ is the track ‘Knots’, which seems to reflect not only Lisa’s travels over these last few years, but also her steady progress as a songwriter. An electrifying blend of Southern stomp, screeching strings and lyrical tales of a debauched, whiskey-soaked night, ‘Knots’ sounds like the kind of song Hannigan would only have the confidence to write now. And then there’s ‘O Sleep’ – a duet with Ray Lamontagne – which came to Lisa in a single rhapsodic burst. “I’d just heard Dr. Ralph Stanley’s version of ‘O Death’ on a Robert Plant documentary, and I was really taken by the idea of addressing something intangible. Around the same time, I went for a walk in Sandymount, Dublin and was singing into my phone. Then I stopped in a café and took one of their paper bags and wrote all the words on the back.”

Briana Corrigan, is a fantastic International Singer Songwriter represented by AMA Music Agency.
Briana has just released her album Redbird with “13 Wonderful Songs” the first single released off the album.
Redbird is Briana’s second solo album: the first was “When My Arms Wrap You Round”, produced by Mike Hedges and released on East West Records 1996 to excellent reviews.

Briana previously from The Beautiful South. She was with the group as the lead female vocalist for six years. Throughout those six years the band released three albums and one UK Number 1 hit with “A Little Time” – a duet with Dave Hemingway. Briana has described this period as “drink and fun-fuelled years when she learned the craft of singing live and in the studio”.

“I learnt a great deal about songwriting from watching Paul [Heaton],” recalls Briana. “My fondest memories are of touring. Life on the road was exciting and tiring and sometimes intensely boring but it was fantastic to be singing every night and getting that feedback, the direct response to the work that you can only get from performing live.”

“In those days, there was a lot more separation between fans and artist than nowadays, so touring and getting to meet the people who were listening to our music was really great. One of my fondest memories was that, after the shows in some cities, there’d be a bunch of women and we’d sit in the dressing room chatting about strident feminism and the importance of women in art. It would be jokingly referred to by the rest of the band as ‘Briana’s women’s Group’. But how great to meet all these young women who felt inspired by the lyrics and the band and felt their position supported and expressed by us.”

Since Briana left The Beautiful South she has been writing music and poetry, and has performed as an actor both on stage and screen.

Her current Album Redbird is the OUT NOW.

The Pale are an Irish Rock band that have been performing on the Irish music circuit for the passed 20 years. In the early 90′s the band received support with their debut release from major record label. The Pale’s tenure with this label was however short lived, so The Pale continued on their venture independently. Over the next few years they released a number of labels throughout Europe including Cheapside – 1996, Cripplegate – 1997, Spudgun – 1998. In an attempt to gain further success they changed their name to Produckt, and released more albums under this title.

The next few years saw the band perform live gigs, however financial issues prevailed, The Pale soldiered on.

Since then The Pale have been developing, maturing and changing their sound. Over the passed five years the band have released two albums, The Contents of A Shipwreck (2007) and Proper Order (2009). Their new album I Woke Up and I Was Gone features 12 songs, covering pop/folk genres. Such charming tracks include Company of Wolves, It should be Illegal, The Boy with The Antlers, Hanging Around Airports and An Autography For my Dad.

Bipolar Empire launch their debut album ‘Feel That You Own It’ April 28th in The Workmans Club

For Dublin band Bipolar Empire, the release of their debut album ‘Feel That You Own It’ can’t come quick enough. Not that they are in any rush – patience has always been a part of their make-up, despite the date of birth on their passports. It’s that patience, combined with a never say die work ethic that has seen them grow and develop into a stunning live act – and it all began in a field in Co Kildare.

Amidst the euphoric haze of Oxegen 2007, in a mud-laden field in Punchestown, three young Dublin musicians decided to band together and try their hands at forming a popular musical group that might one day aspire to greatness. All hailing from the Dublin suburb of Tallaght, supersonic warbler Shane O’Reilly was joined by horizontally laid back bassist Joe Leech and drumming dynamo Callum Mc Adam. And so it was to pass, Bipolar Empire was born.

Their stylistic folk infused rock’n’roll, delivered with genuine raw passion and boundless energy, began to draw the attention of young music connoisseurs and as the live shows developed into a tighter, more intense experience, so the Bipolar Empire fanbase began to blossom. In 2009, the band got a lucky break and managed to wrangle a trip to the US to work with legendary music producer, Pat McCarthy (REM, Madonna, U2, Counting Crows…). The lads packed their bags and sunscreen and headed to Los Angeles to record their debut album. Impressed by the bands vast reserve of songs (the band had thirty tracks written and ready to record), McCarthy spent the first few days helping the band to whittle the tracks down. Working tirelessly and making the most of their time in the US, Bipolar Empire played numerous gigs including turns at the iconic Continental Club and the world famous Whiskey A Go-Go before heading to Austin, Texas, to perform at industry showcase South x Southwest.

 Tempomanic by Bipolar Empire

Fast forward to April 2011, and the release of their second single and title track from the album ‘Feel That You Own It’. The band enlisted the help of legendary director Kevin Godley (U2, Blur) to shoot the video video. They decided to focus on the uplifting and positive vibe of the track and approached Irish Champion boxer Katie Taylor to take part.

Speaking on the video, Kevin Godley says; ‘On screen Bipolar Empire and Katie Taylor symbolise a young and forgotten generation venting their anger and frustration against the system that created the mess Ireland is in right now. It’s rooted here because the music grew here but it mirrors the bigger picture of global upheaval currently playing out on the streets of Egypt, Tunisia, and Iran etc. It also looks beyond the fight to the triumph of dreams and goals over fear and apathy and suggests a positive force for change. Both the song and video for ‘Feel That You Own It’ are trying to spread that positive message.

Dublin six piece Royseven have built an international reputation based on the success of their debut album The Art Of Insincerity, a record that saw them tour widely across Europe. Voted the Hope Of 2007 at that year’s Meteor Awards.

2011 saw Royseven return with a new label in Warner Music and with a new sound for a new chapter. “You Say, We Say”, the album, would be the band’s first No 1 album.

“Killer”, the first single to be taken from this new long play was issued in November 2010 by way of introduction to “You Say, We Say”. “We Should Be Lovers”, the second would become the soundtrack of 2011 in Ireland. “We Should Be Lovers” concluded the year as being the most played song on Irish Radio. “Dance” and “No Romance” suitably followed in the mindset of popularity and easily polled Top 20 and Top 30 in the end of year airplay chart. This year “We Should Be Lovers” was also awarded ‘Meteor Choice Music Prize for 2011 Song Of The Year’.

Second album White Fox has seen the four piece build on the promise of their debut and deliver a record that combines the dark undertones of The National with a melodic suss that has made them staples of daytime radio. Fronted by the enigmatic duo of Podge and Niamh, their live show has become a thing of legend.

Music Tv represents Fred. Fred are a five piece original band from Cork who take the anguish, angst and pain out of rock ‘n’ roll opting instead to just be really good. Beautiful, smart, and wealthier than most regular folk, Fred are the people’s band, making music for the people, by the super-people. Their third album, Go God Go, saw them hone their pop sensibilities while combining a love of soul music such as Curtis Mayfield and Sly Stone with the influence of the likes of Flaming Lips – racking up three hit singles in the process. With increasing touring commitments in Canada and Europe, the band’s reputation is growing all the time and they remain a huge draw on the Irish gig circuit.

Fred have just been added to The Other Voices bill, for their 10th anniversary filming this December in Dingle. Fred have just returned from perofrming at this years CMJ Music Festival in NYC, Their new album ‘Leaving My Empire’ will be released in the U.S & Canada on March 7th 2012, ‘We Are The City’ taken from the new album is featuring in the new T-Booth Wireless AD that launches today accross Canada http://youtu.be/U7wpKeClIOs

At the start of November last year the five members of Fred traveled to Montreal to start recording they’re 4th album. The recording duties would be given to Howard Bilerman at his renown ‘Hotel2Tango’ studio, As well as recording and playing on Arcade Fires Breakthrough record ‘Funeral’ Howard has worked his magic with an array of great artists including Wolf Parade, God Speed you Black emperor, British sea power to name but a few.

Fred had spent nearly a year laying low writing and producing the tracks, this would be they’re first time ever recording in a studio in the traditional sense. After the release of ‘Go God Go’ in 2008 with it’s string of Indie-poptastic hits (‘Skyscrapers’, ‘Running’. ‘The Lights’ & ‘Good one’) on playlists across the nation, accolades including itunes Canada ‘Top ten Indie albums of 2008′, Hot-press readers poll ‘Top Ten album Irish albums of 2008′ & Meteor nomination for ‘Hope of 2009’ . The reaction and recognition for Fred was brought to a new level, ‘leaving My Empire’ is testament to their ability write and produce songs that go from intimate to epic and back.

Music TV now represent In Their Thousand

Every now and then a band comes along that inspires in its fans the kind of loyalty that moves all boundaries, that will dismiss all critics and will bring truth to the fact that pure honest music will triumph over every discerning voice. Beautifully crafted songs with dynamic arrangements, powerful vocal harmonies and powerful hooks. The bands sound can only be described as diverse. Their live set changes from stunning vocal harmony laced acoustic acapella folk to edgy electric alternative rock in a seamless progressive crescendo.

In Their Thousands are not the type of band that will come and go in todays very fickle music industry. They incite a remarkable passion in their fans and are gaining new followers with every gig. The main reason for this is simple. They write and play great music.

‘In Their Thousands were absolutely brilliant. The feeling among the judges was that this is a band with huge international potential. They are superb musicians making a truly original and epic noise.’ – Niall Stokes, Hot Press
