Lir

Seminal Irish Rock band LIR’s reputation as a legendary live act was built through mesmerising gigs around Ireland that became unmissable for many. Following the release of their debut album ‘Magico Magico’ and the hit single ‘In a Day’, LIR signed to US label ‘WAR’ and based themselves in the States for a number of years, touring North America relentlessly with ‘Magico’ and the follow-up album ‘Nest’ to rave reviews across the States.

Settling back in Ireland once again, LIR scored another hit single ‘There are more things’, the theme tune to the renowned Irish feature film ‘I Went Down’.

In recent years, the band members have pursued other projects but have intermittently reconvened for a LIR fix. Then finally in 2009, the band delivered their 3rd album. The idea grew from the feedback of fans at gigs and from bootlegs of concerts that an official live album release would fully portray the band in all their glory. And how true it was. Recorded at Vicar St. LIR delivered a 17 track set list that captured the spirit of the shows that made their name. The album titled ‘LIR LIVE’ showcased the bands signature tunes from their earliest days, through to their time in the states and most importantly to previously unreleased material.

Irish filmmaker, Shimmy Marcus (Soulboy, Headrush) has recently completed a feature length documentary film entitled ‘Good Cake Bad Cake’ about the band. It’s an interesting story as anyone with a familiarity with the band can attest and is sure to focus attention once again on these talented musicians from Dublin’s Northside.
