TARANTELLA FALL

Dublin band Tarantella Fall launched their first single ‘Junk’ on July 23rd. It is a special radio edit and the lead track to be taken from their debut album ‘Abandoned Road’, which was released at the end of March of this year. The song will be available as a free download from tarantellafall.bandcamp.com and is accompanied by two exclusive new tracks.

“… lyrically, it’s reminiscent of the storytelling of Tom Waits, Bruce Springsteen or Willie Vlautin. Musically, it veers between the alt. rock musings of REM, the heavy guitar workouts of Neil Young, and the sinister atmospherics of Slint. Conceptually, it conjures up thoughts of a David Lynch or Coen brothers road movie with some Tim Burton-esque twists and turns.”
Olaf Tyaransen, Hot Press

“… this is a stunningly polished effort for a debut album, and while it will be far too dark and manically downbeat for many listeners, its rammed full of drama and musical suspense, doing loud and quiet equally well, and lining up the musical crescendos perfectly with the heights of the storytelling prowess.”
James Hendicott, Golden Plec

The band have been kept busy over the last few months, from playing in the window of Hilfiger Denim in Dublin to bemused passers-by as part of the Music In May series, and finding time to help musician Dave Browne break the Guinness World Record for continuous guitar playing of over 114 hours with a stint with him in The Temple Bar pub. Throw in a performance on Henry St for the Special Olympics Ireland on their collection day, where they donated one hundred copies of the album, with all proceeds going to the charity, which were all snapped up in two hours. Add in some acoustic sessions on radio and TV, airplay on the national and local airwaves, and it all topped off by sharing the stage with Irish bands of the moment Royseven, The Minutes and Bipolar Empire as part of the Jägermeister Freezer Sessions in Dundalk.

The new single ‘Junk’ was given a live airing at Upstairs In Whelan’s on Saturday July 23rd and they follow it up with a free instore performance in Tower Records on Thursday July 28th at 6pm. They finish the month with a slot at the prestigious Irish festival Castlepalooza on Saturday July 30th.
